Five badges, five different strengths

Badges are micro credentials. They recognise one thing your project does exceptionally well, rather than the whole project. Earning any badge puts you in the weekly review pool.

Early Catalyst Execution and momentum Projects that show rapid execution or a significant milestone completed inside the minimum three month window.
Storytelling Pioneer Reach and narrative clarity Projects with strong media submissions, whether podcasts, video, writing or social campaigns, that communicate the mission clearly and reach a wide audience.
Spark Innovator Creative problem solving Projects using new technology, design thinking or plain resourcefulness to take on a local challenge in a way nobody expected.
Unity and Systems Leadership and collaboration Initiatives with a real team structure, school partnerships, or influence on policy and institutions.
Data Champion Measurable verification Projects that show transparent, well documented proof of the baseline they started from and the results they reached.
More than one Stacking is allowed A project can hold several badges at once. Each one is judged on its own criteria, and holding more than one strengthens your weekly score.
1 Earn your badges Submit your project application. Based on the strength of what you send, your initiative can earn Early Catalyst, Storytelling Pioneer, Spark Innovator, Unity and Systems, or Data Champion.
2 Get evaluated for Project of the Week Every badge winner enters the weekly review pool automatically. Active badge holders are scored on the rubric below, and the highest score that week takes the spotlight.

How the weekly score works

The scoring rubric

Projects holding at least one active badge are scored every week. Scoring is adjusted for the applicant's division, so a Grade 6 project is never measured against a college one.

15% Research and driving motivation Depth of the problem you identified, the purpose underneath it, and whether the initiative is genuinely yours.
25% Weekly traction and momentum Recent progress and active execution within the past thirty to ninety days.
20% Verification and data clarity Tangible proof of the work, through photographs, metrics, video and testimonials.
20% Student autonomy and leadership Age appropriate student ownership, with the adult role staying advisory rather than directive.
15% Storytelling and public inspiration Whether the project can inspire peers once it is featured on the Wall of Fame.

Each criterion is scored on a four point scale, from Beginning through Developing and Strong to Exceptional. Scores are reviewed weekly for as long as the application window stays open.
